Ravyn Lanae, an 18-year-old singer raised on the South side of Chicago, knew she had a knack for music at a really young age. She grew up in singing in her church choir and learned how to play the guitar. Also, she currently attends a performing arts high school in Chicago where she is studying classical music.
In 2016, Ravyn released her first EP titled Moon Shoes for free and it was received with critical acclaim. On March 3, 2017, she released her second EP titled Midnight Moonlight. Mosi Reeves, a journalist that works with Rolling Stone stated that her second EP “delves into more romantic concerns with the same quiet grace” heard on Moon Shoes in which she “sings about life as a dreamy, sometimes-melancholy teenager in a softly assertive voice.”
I was first introduced to Ravyn on the song “Forever” by Noname, and she is currently on tour with Noname until March 2017. She has also made an appearance on “Communicate” by Mick Jenkins and “Baby” by Monte Booker.
Also, she is a part of the group Zero Fatigue Crew along with Monte Booker and the rapper Smino and is a part of the group Medicine Woman along with Drea Smith, Via Rosa, and Jean Deaux.
